Beetle Bailey

A short-lived 1990s revival from Harvey Comics, Beetle Bailey brought Mort Walker’s classic army-base antics to a new generation across nine issues. Writer-artist Bob Gustafson, working under the Walker name alongside Jorge Pacheco, kept the familiar cast of lazy private Beetle, blustery Sarge Snorkel, and the rest of Camp Swampy in fine, gag-a-page form. While not a landmark run, it’s a tidy, affectionate snapshot of the strip’s enduring, low-key humor during a transitional period for the character.
