About the series
In the early 2000s, Viz Media brought the monster-hunting manga Beet the Vandel Buster to English-speaking readers, adapting Riku Sanjo and Koji Inada’s original Japanese series. The story follows a young boy in a fantasy world where trained warriors, known as Busters, hunt monstrous Vandels for a living, with the hero determined to restore hope to a dark age. With translations and adaptations by Naomi Kokubo and Shaenon K. Garrity, this 12-issue run captures the action-packed, shonen spirit of the original while introducing Western audiences to a classic underdog adventure.
