About the series
Over nearly two decades and 105 issues, Western Publishing’s Beep Beep the Road Runner turned the classic chase between the fast bird and his hapless pursuer into a reliably funny comic. Anchored by writers Don R. Christensen, Mark Evanier, and Carl Fallberg, and artists Pete Alvarado, Phil De Lara, and Jack Manning, the series expanded the Looney Tunes universe with appearances from Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Petunia Pig. It remains a fondly remembered example of how the cartoon’s silent gags translated into lively, wordless panels for a generation of young readers.
