About the series
Set in the American South during the 1920s, Bayou Girl is a lyrical fantasy from the independent Wanga imprint that reimagines folklore through a child's eyes. Created by writer and artist Jeremy Love, the series follows young Lee Wagstaff as she ventures into a mythic, dangerous swamp to rescue her kidnapped friend, encountering a world of blues music, racial injustice, and Southern Gothic wonder. Though only one issue has been published to date, its lush watercolor art and haunting story have made it a quietly influential touchstone for modern folk-horror comics.
