About the series
Set in the Jim Crow-era American South, Bayou is a hauntingly beautiful fantasy series from DC Comics that reimagines folklore through the eyes of a young Black girl searching for her kidnapped friend. Writer and artist Jeremy Love crafts a lush, watercolor world where mythological creatures from African American tall tales and Southern Gothic horrors intertwine with the brutal realities of racism. Though only two issues were published, its lyrical artwork and deeply resonant story have earned it a lasting reputation as a powerful, underappreciated gem of 2000s comics.
