Battle Chasers

Joe Madureira's long-awaited return to comics after his celebrated run on Uncanny X-Men produced only two oversized issues for Éditions USA, but they remain a landmark of 2000s fantasy art. The series follows a young girl and her mechanical guardian through a vividly rendered swords-and-sorcery world, distinguished by Madureira's lush, anime-influenced linework and his collaboration with colorist Brian Haberlin. Though brief, Battle Chasers became a cult touchstone for its sheer visual ambition and the promise of a grand adventure that, for years, existed only in these two stunning installments.
