Barbarian Comics

From 1972 to 1975, California Comics published four issues of Barbarian Comics, a short-lived but spirited anthology that blended sword-and-sorcery adventure with the raw, DIY energy of the early independent comics scene. The series was most frequently written and drawn by Hale Han, alongside contributors Eric Vinicoff, John Williams, and Steve Whitecloud, who together crafted a gritty, low-budget fantasy world. Though brief, it stands as a curious artifact of the pre-direct market era, capturing the experimental spirit of small-press comics before the rise of major fantasy epics.
