Bangro-Sonderband

From 1985 to 1990, the German publisher Groth released four issues of Bangro-Sonderband, a compact series that collected and spotlighted the work of cartoonists Harry Messerschmidt and Heinrich Banemann. Each volume showcased their distinctive, often surreal black-and-white comic storytelling, offering a focused look at two key figures in the alternative German comics scene of the era. It stands as a niche but important document of their creative partnership and the experimental spirit of 1980s European small-press publishing.
