About the series

A charming, short-lived Danish children's comic from the 1950s, Bamse was published by Åsmund S. Lærdal Barneserier for just two issues. Created by the husband-and-wife team of writer Carla Hansen and artist Vilhelm Hansen, the series introduced the gentle, honey-loving bear Bamse, a character who would later become a beloved staple of Danish pop culture. While this original run was brief, it planted the seed for a much longer and more famous series to come.
