Bamboula

In the early 1950s, Éditions Rouff published Bamboula, a short-lived French comic series running just 11 issues. The title character was a young African boy whose adventures reflected the colonial-era attitudes of its time. Though not widely remembered today, the series is a curious artifact of post-war European comics, illustrating the period's limited and often problematic depictions of non-Western characters.
