About the series
A long-running Flemish comic series from publisher J. Hoste, Bakelandt (1978–1989) follows the adventures of a roguish 18th-century highwayman. Spanning 46 issues, the series was most consistently illustrated by Hec Leemans, whose dynamic art brought the historical setting and swashbuckling action to life. It remains a fondly remembered staple of Belgian comics, notable for its blend of historical fiction and lighthearted outlaw escapades.
