Before The Incal, there was Avant l'Incal, a prequel series published by Les Humanoïdes Associés from 1988 to 1995. Written by Alejandro Jodorowsky and illustrated by Zoran Janjetov across six issues, it explores the early life and transformation of John Difool, tracing his journey from a cynical, down-on-his-luck private detective into the figure who would later become the Metabaron’s reluctant ally.
