Asgard

In the early 1980s, the French publisher Editions Asgard released a short-lived, three-issue series simply titled Asgard. This comic was a vehicle for the singular talents of artist Jean-Claude Mézières and writer Pierre Christin, best known for their Valérian series, to explore cosmic and mythological themes. Set against a backdrop of interstellar adventure, the series reimagines Norse mythology in a science fiction context, with Asgard as a distant, dying world. Though brief, Asgard stands as a distinctive and visually striking artifact of European sci-fi comics from the era.
