Ariel

From 1976 to 1978, The Morning Star Press published Ariel, a four-issue fantasy anthology that brought together the talents of Richard Corben, Barry Windsor-Smith, and John Jakes, with a posthumous contribution from Robert E. Howard. Corben's primal, muscular art and Windsor-Smith's ornate linework gave visual life to sword-and-sorcery tales, most notably featuring Corben's own barbarian hero, Den. A showcase for the raw, experimental energy of 1970s fantasy comics, Ariel remains a distinctive artifact of the independent press era.
