Aquablue

In the mid-1990s, Egmont Ehapa brought the French sci-fi epic Aquablue to German readers with a five-issue run. Written primarily by Thierry Cailleteau and Nora Sailer, with art from Olivier Vatine and Ciro Tota, this series follows the orphaned Nao on the oceanic world of Aquablue, where he must defend his adopted home and its inhabitants from a ruthless corporation. A key work in the European bande dessinée tradition, Aquablue is remembered for its lush, detailed underwater world-building and its blend of environmental themes with classic adventure storytelling.
