In 2005, Avatar Press launched Apparat, a single-issue comic written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Juan José Ryp. This one-shot offers a concentrated dose of Ellis's signature speculative fiction, blending dense, atmospheric storytelling with Ryp's intricate, visceral artwork. Though brief, it stands as a notable collaboration between two creators who would later reunite for longer works at the publisher.
