In 1975–1976, Norwegian publisher Illustrerte Klassikere / Williams Forlag adapted the classic Planet of the Apes concept into a unique 10-issue comic series titled Apeplaneten. Drawn by local talent, this black-and-white series offered a fresh, serialized take on the dystopian world of intelligent apes and subjugated humans, distinct from the American comics of the era. While it draws from the same well as the films, Apeplaneten stands as a fascinating Scandinavian artifact—a concise, self-contained narrative that brought the franchise’s themes of power and survival to a new audience.
