Angel: Masks

In this 2006 one-shot from IDW, writer Jeff Mariotte and artist Stephen Mooney take Angel into the supernatural underbelly of Los Angeles, where a mysterious series of murders leads him to confront a killer wearing a very familiar face. The story deepens the brooding atmosphere of the television series while exploring themes of identity and the masks people wear—both literal and figurative. Though a single issue, Angel: Masks offers a tight, character-driven mystery that captures the essence of the vampire with a soul.
