Ally Sloper's Comic Kalendar

A pioneering British comic annual, Ally Sloper's Comic Kalendar ran for twelve issues from 1875 to 1887, published by Judy magazine. Most frequently illustrated by Marie Duval, these booklets star the iconic, bulbous-nosed rogue Ally Sloper in a series of satirical and slapstick adventures. As an early example of a recurring comic character in a dedicated publication, the Kalendar helped establish the visual language and commercial viability of the British comic strip.
