From 1952 to 1954, Star Publications brought readers All-Famous Police Cases, an 11-issue crime comic that delivered gritty, no-nonsense law-enforcement stories. The series is most associated with artists Alvin Hollingsworth, George Peltz, and L. B. Cole, whose bold, shadow-drenched visuals gave each case a raw, cinematic edge. Though brief, it stands as a snapshot of the pre-Code crime genre, when publishers could still push the boundaries of violence and moral ambiguity without the Comics Code Authority’s oversight.
