About the series
In the mid-1980s, Albedo carved a singular niche in independent comics by fusing anthropomorphic animal characters with hard science fiction. Published by Thoughts & Images across fifteen issues, the series was largely written and illustrated by Steven A. Gallacci, who established a thoughtful, character-driven universe. It is also notable as the first home for Stan Sakai's wandering ronin Miyamoto Usagi, who appears alongside other recurring figures like Lord Noriyuki and Tomoe Ame. Albedo matters as a foundational work that helped legitimize "funny animal" comics as a vehicle for serious, adult-oriented storytelling.
