Al Capp's Shmoo Comics
Superior · 1949–1950 · 4 issues
About the series
Al Capp brought his beloved Li'l Abner creation, the Shmoo, to its own short-lived comic book series from Superior in 1949 and 1950. Over four issues, Capp himself handled the art for these gentle, pear-shaped creatures whose innocent nature and eagerness to please satirized American consumerism. The series captured the post-war Shmoo craze at its peak, offering readers more of the whimsical, socially pointed humor that made the character a cultural phenomenon.
