Akissi

Akissi, a 2013–2019 series from Epix, follows the mischievous adventures of a young girl in contemporary West Africa. Written and illustrated by Marguerite Abouet with art by Mathieu Sapin, the comic brings the same warm, slice-of-life energy as Abouet's Aya series, but aimed at a younger audience. Across five issues, it captures the chaos and humor of childhood through Akissi's scrapes with family, friends, and the neighborhood, offering a lively, authentic look at growing up in Côte d'Ivoire.
