About the series
Lehning’s Akim [Nieuwe avonturen] ran for 196 issues from 1956 to 1959, continuing the adventures of the jungle hero originally created by Roberto Renzi and Augusto Pedrazza. This Dutch reprint series collected Italian Akim stories, bringing the strong, loincloth-clad protagonist’s battles against wild beasts and villainous explorers to a new audience. Its long, consistent run made it a staple of mid-century European comics, cementing Akim as a beloved figure in the Netherlands alongside better-known jungle heroes.
