About the series

In 2009, Avatar Press launched Absolution, a seven-issue miniseries by writer Christos Gage that takes a gritty, psychological turn on the superhero genre. The story follows John Dusk, a police officer with superhuman abilities who operates in a world where costumed heroes are government-regulated, and his brutal methods of dispensing justice begin to blur the line between protector and predator. With visceral art by Jacen Burrows and Roberto Viacava, the series delves into the moral complexities of vigilantism and the cost of absolute power. It stands as a compelling, character-driven exploration of corruption and consequence within a familiar but darkly reimagined framework.
