A Study in Emerald

In the tradition of classic literary mash-ups, A Study in Emerald (2018–present, Dark Horse) reimagines Neil Gaiman’s Hugo Award-winning short story as a one-issue comic, with script by Gaiman, Rafael Albuquerque, and Rafael Scavone, and art by Albuquerque. This single issue transplants Sherlock Holmes into a Lovecraftian Victorian world, where a murder investigation uncovers a conspiracy involving eldritch royalty. The creators’ tight, atmospheric storytelling makes the book a compact but potent blend of detective fiction and cosmic horror.
