7 Generations

In 2010, Highwater Press launched 7 Generations, a four-issue comic series that re-centers Indigenous storytelling in the graphic novel form. The series follows a contemporary Cree teenager as he uncovers his family's history, connecting his own struggles to the resilience of his ancestors across seven generations. Written and illustrated by David Alexander Robertson and Scott B. Henderson, the series is a landmark in Indigenous comics for its unflinching yet hopeful exploration of intergenerational trauma and cultural continuity.
