War Birds #2 is an anthology containing at least three military aviation stories. "The Mystery Migs of Kwanjamu" follows American pilots intercepting Red Night Fighters over Korea, discovering enemy MiGs covering a grounded transport and devising a strategy to land their crate safely by exploiting the MiGs' unprotected weak spots. "The Glory Boy" centers on Joe Smallding, a soldier in the Army's 52nd who earns the nickname "Strongheart" for his courage, and becomes involved in a dangerous mission transporting a UN diplomat while encountering enemy fighters over Korea. "The Box-Car Boys" depicts Fighter Pilot Fred Merson and the A-29 pilots flying a bombing run against a North Korean target, conducting a dangerous mission in their superfort formation while facing enemy opposition.
