The Comet #45 is an all-star anthology featuring three main stories. "Jungle Lord" follows Dick as he escapes an underground mine collapse and reunites with his parents and friends in the jungle village, celebrating his return before embarking on a new adventure called "The Golden Scarab." "Round the World in the Flying Fish" shows Jack and Jill piloting an experimental aircraft-submarine vessel around the globe, encountering space-ship creatures from the planet Centurion and navigating through underwater caves and rocky obstacles. The issue also includes "Out of Doors: Sea Anemones," an educational feature by Joan Clement Jones describing the physical characteristics and behaviors of sea anemones, along with various humor strips, games, and miscellaneous columns typical of the anthology format.
