Peter Wheat has captured Dragonel, Queen of the Hornets, and holds her in his castle prison. A malevolent Wizard schemes to rescue Dragonel by deceiving the Wheat Queen into a prisoner exchange, claiming to have captured Peter and his friend Sammy. Peter and Sammy escape the Wizard's trap with help from a friendly blue jay, foiling the exchange plot. The Wheat Queen's forces then launch an attack on the Wizard's castle, forcing him to surrender and freeing the wheat fields from the threat of hornet warfare.
