This issue contains two stories: "Trigger Fast," in which Texas Rangers recount how one recruit, Len Eklen, became a ranger despite lacking fancy shooting skills, as Captain Bennet recognized his courage and determination—qualities that defined all true rangers. "The Homesteader" follows a confrontation between outlaw Wanne Hacker and farmer Robbie Simms, in which Hacker's thirty mounted men attack the homestead, but Simms refuses to quit, ultimately defeating Hacker and earning the admiration of Captain Bennet and the Texas Rangers, embodying the ranger code that one should never pity a ranger.
