"The Tender Family" by Stan Randall depicts a grandfather who promises to show his grandchildren real baseball action, but instead subjects them to increasingly painful mishaps—including a baseball to the teeth, getting hit in the stomach, and nearly being struck by a bat—while claiming to demonstrate his youthful vigor and luck. The issue also includes 16 prize-winning recipes featuring skinless frankfurters and wieners, including dishes such as Southern Goulash and Skinless Frankfurter Pie, along with informational text on the history and development of skinless sausages.
