Sun #51 is an anthology featuring multiple stories: "Sitting Bull—Fighting Indian" depicts the pioneer Jim Kearny's wagon train being attacked by Native Americans in 1860, with his daughter Christine venturing out to find water and encountering Sitting Bull, leading to a tense confrontation. "The Queer Adventures of Patsy and Tim" follows two children who obtain magical dwindling pills from their uncle, shrinking themselves small enough to ride on their dog Scrubby. Additional stories include "There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe," an adaptation of the nursery rhyme depicting children and an old woman managing a fire at a shoe-shaped house; "Petrified Valley," in which Professor Wimple discovers a fake wizard's magic in a petrified forest; and "The Circus Farm" and "Jolly Giants of Jupiter" continuing from previous issues. The issue also features "Sammy Shuteye and the Nice Thick Coat," film snapshots from an RKO western thriller, reader competitions, and a trivia quiz.
