Joan and John Randall, accompanied by their Professor, journey to the planet Venus, where they encounter hostile aquatic creatures and a giant monster while swimming toward the Rocky Isle. Trapped in a cave, John uses an atomic beam welder to escape, and later receives an ape-child as a companion from the native inhabitants, who help the party survive encounters with dangerous Venusian wildlife including a giant bird and jungle predators. The issue also features "Susan Starr, The Girl Reporter," in which Susan witnesses an accident at the train station involving a boy who claims to be a thief rather than admit his poverty, and "Home in Happy Valley," depicting two travelers' encounter with cowboys and rustlers at a homestead.
