Last Will and Testament
8 pp · western-frontier

When Tex Ritter receives a letter from a stranger inviting him to his old acquaintance Whitey Harris's funeral, he arrives to find something's terribly wrong—two bodies have been pulled from the burned ranch house, and Bailey's letter claims one of them is Tex himself. Suspecting foul play, Tex teams up with lawyer Bill Parsons to uncover what really happened, following a trail of lies and a suspicious will that could make someone very rich if the right people were dead. With a killer still loose and the truth hanging by a thread, Tex must stay one step ahead before Bailey's plan comes full circle.

The Backward Tale
7 pp · western-frontier

Lash LaRue, the roving marshal, finds himself saddled with Backwards, a trick circus horse whose commands work in reverse—yell "whoa" and he runs, yell "giddap" and he stops. When a pair of outlaws mistake the horse's bewildered owner, Squinty, for the front man of a robbery gang, they chase him into the hills, giving Lash the perfect opportunity to use the horse's peculiar nature to turn the tables. It's a clever tale of how a little confusion can outsmart even the wiliest varmints.

Rocky Lane investigates a baffling string of house collapses in newly-settled territory, suspecting foul play when he discovers the lumber itself is mysteriously rotting from within. His trail of clues leads him to the mill owner and a sinister scheme that puts the entire community at risk, forcing the undercover marshal into a dangerous confrontation to stop the sabotage before more settlers fall victim.
