School Friend #254 is an anthology issue featuring three picture stories. "Cherry's Alpine Schooldays" follows Cherry Lee competing in a winter sports contest at Alpine School, where she must catch up to the other skaters after starting late in the skating race. "Diana and the Dog from Nowhere" by Hazel Armitage tells of Diana's discovery that a mysterious dog named Jupiter has escaped from a circus and is being hunted by its trainer, Zat the lion tamer, leading to a tense confrontation at her kennels. "Susie's Wonder Cruise" by Jane Preston depicts Susie on a ship cruise searching for a mysterious boy who appears to be a stowaway, ultimately discovering him in the crew's quarters and uncovering secrets about a championship sprinter on board.
