School Friend #248 is an anthology featuring multiple stories. "Cherry's Alpine Schooldays" follows Cherry Lee, who receives a mysterious musical box at school that is stolen; with help from her Chinese friend Su-Su and Eastern magic, she recovers it. "Patsy and Mimi in 'Mystery Member of the Circus'" depicts Patsy and Mimi at a circus where they befriend a pom-pom dog and become involved in protecting the animal from a horse performer named Zena who mistreats it. "Susie's Wonder Cruise" by Jane Preston shows Susie and her chums on a ship voyage to South America where they encounter the mysterious Mr. Pablo, who appears in fancy dress and causes intrigue among the passengers. The issue also includes the School Friend Birthday Club section with competitions, puzzles, and reader features.
