School Friend #204 is an anthology containing three serials. "The Riding Mystery at Moorland School" follows June Farmer and Roberta Page as they suspect fellow student Noreen Nokes of plotting against their new riding instructor Wendy Glynn, with the school governor Mr. Dawson conducting an exam that will determine Wendy's future at the school. "Trudy's Journey" depicts Trudy's visit to Wong-Lun's house in search of a mysterious crescent-shaped lantern, where Wong-Lun reveals its significance and presents her with the object, though its purpose remains hidden. "The Silent Three in the Highlands" features Betty Roland, Joan Brevett, and Peggy West—members of a secret school society called the Silent Three—as they discover a dagger in the school museum and investigate whether it relates to a stolen item belonging to Fiona MacLeod. "The Fourth Form Editors" follows editors Babs and Judy as they attempt to recover copies of their school magazine that were confiscated by Miss Mills, the headmistress, after they inadvertently printed an article containing an error.
