Foodini's Robot Prospector

When Foodini's creditors foreclose on his laboratory and auction off his possessions, the desperate magician trades worthless underwater real estate to a junk dealer for a pile of scrap—then puts his "monumental intellect" to work building a gold-hunting robot from the salvage. The mechanical prospector works a little too well, though, as it tracks down the nearest source of precious metal with single-minded determination. Written by Bill Woolfolk, this 1951 romp from Pinhead and Foodini #4 proves that sometimes genius and disaster are just two sides of the same coin.

Detective Tail

Monkey Doodles and Uncle Gypsy are performing street tricks for spare change when a thief spots a ten-dollar bill and makes off with it—but chases the wrong suspect, leaving the real crook to escape. When Doodles climbs a tree to search for the thief, he gets captured and tied up, though his quick thinking with the one thing left untied proves to be the key to catching the culprit and turning the tables in "Detective Tail."
