Pep Comics #48 is an anthology featuring multiple stories. The Shield faces danger when a landing barge approaches the human shore at night, and he must contend with a gang of criminals attempting to exploit the situation. In the Archie story "Camera Buys," Archie finally obtains a promised camera and uses it to become a "Brown and Golds" photographer. Archie's misadventures with the camera lead to comedic consequences as he attempts his new photography role.
