"Big Ears" by John Marlin follows Tom and Bill Hanscomb as they travel up the Wangatze River in Nigeria with their guide Swane and native boy Tikeeti, encountering dangerous wildlife including a giant crocodile that kills Tikeeti. The second story features Nyoka arranging with a pilot to transport a valuable greased monkey, but discovers a stowaway passenger hidden in the plane's baggage compartment who plans to steal the animal; Nyoka must stop the villain Von Schickel, who uses a quarry and boulder-throwing trap against her, though her plan to attack from two sides ultimately defeats him, preventing him from falling into her hands.
