Monty Hall of the U.S. Marines features two stories. The main narrative follows a Marine cowboy named Buckaroos as he and fellow soldiers pursue malcontents across Japan, with a subplot involving a romantic entanglement and an undercover agent who will provide a password for a waterfront operation. "Short Timer," by Staff Sergeant C. F. X. Bouta, depicts Marines on the front lines in Korea during a tense night hold of a frozen hill position, where tension among the exhausted troops builds as they await enemy attack and navigate the dangers of sniper fire and the harsh conditions of the Korean War.
