Lightning Comics #1 (1942)

Lightning Comics #1 is an anthology featuring multiple stories, including the debut of Lightning Girl, a new ally to the main Lightning character who aids in rescuing prisoners from a cell block and confronting shadowy villains. Another featured story is "Cappie Young," which follows the title character and his pal Brask as they ride a supplies truck with their Chinese friend Ling Foo to American volunteer headquarters, encountering Japanese military forces including a Japanese field artillery unit during their dangerous mission. The issue also introduces a new feature called "The Sword," as advertised on the cover.
