This anthology presents biographical accounts of Jewish servicemembers fighting in World War II. Featured stories include "Yank Levy," a Canadian born in Hamilton, Ontario, with an adventurous military career spanning World War I in Palestine and Mesopotamia, service in Nicaragua, and participation in the Spanish Civil War before becoming an instructor in defense and guerrilla tactics during World War II; "Captain Israel Fisanovich," a 29-year-old Soviet submarine commander of the Maliutka who has sunk thirteen enemy warships and earned the Order of Hero of the Soviet Union; and "Sergeant Meyer Levin," a bombardier on Captain Collin Kelly's plane who participated in operations over the Philippines and later served with distinction during the Battle of Coral Sea, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and Silver Star.
