The lead story features "Basil and Bert, Our Very Private Detectives," who recover a valuable diamond from a dictator named Dick Tater, encountering an octopus and various mishaps during a seaside adventure. Additional stories include "A Nightwatchman's Tales," in which Lieutenant Laurry, a former boxing champion, must overcome his cowardice to confront an enemy pilot; "Queenie and the Courtiers," "The Comical Capers of Constable Cuddlecook," and "Cinderella and Her Sisters," all presented as humorous comic strips. The issue also features longer prose stories including "Heartbreak in a House," about an orphan named Ted Hanson who discovers the cause of his guardian's sorrow, and "The Gangster's Son's Schooldays."
