This anthology issue contains three main stories: "The Japer Who Amazed the School," in which Mitzi, a girl raised as a gypsy, discovers her true identity when she finds a boulder with her name carved on it during a trip to a Swiss cave with friends Carol Fenton and Denia Gray, and receives a message revealing her real home and identity. "Kit of Sundown Ranch," by Sheila Austin, follows Kit's birthday celebration at the ranch, which is disrupted when her horse Blaze causes mischief and the cowboy Curly Wade arrives with suspicious intentions regarding stolen items from the bunkhouse. "The Japer Who Amazed the School" (continued) features a school librarian named Jill who discovers her father involved in a suspicious situation with a ladder leading to a fifth-floor window, ultimately revealing the fifth form's prize club mascot has been defaced with paint.
