Girls' Crystal #1036 is an anthology issue containing three stories. "Mystery Girl of the Nile" follows Sandra Drake and Beryl Gregg on an Egyptian school trip where they become caught up in intrigue involving a girl named Grace Lang, a horseman, and a secret plot related to Grace's father. "Gillian—The Girl Travel Guide" by Jane Preston depicts Gillian Taylor's first day working for the Cassada Travel Agency, during which she must retrieve a lost passenger named Mary Dobson from a train platform in Italy while navigating various mishaps. "The Make-Believe Princess" tells of Deanna Stanley traveling to Marovia to impersonate Princess Zena so the real princess can secretly visit her wounded brother, with Deanna devising a plan involving a hidden whistle and the guard-house.
