Gabby Hayes stumbles into a detective case when he loses his hat in a nose dive near a railroad camp where explosions have occurred. After investigating the Property West River Railroad, Gabby deduces that stolen dynamite is hidden nearby and mentions a half-finished bridge. His accidental clues lead the sheriff to suspect stolen dynamite is involved, and Gabby's observations about Twin Forks and the bridge guide the investigation toward recovering the stolen explosives and catching the thieves.
