Firehair, the warrior-maid of the Wild Dakotas, pursues the Spotted Wolf and his woman-stealing tribe through the Badlands. After a fierce lance duel with a pale-faced girl from the Crow tribe, Firehair is captured and must use her wits to escape Big Knife's camp by tricking the warriors into a trap. When Big Knife is killed by Crow bullets during a final battle, Firehair helps his young captive Joseph find freedom and rejoin his own people, parting ways as both return to their respective tribes.
