Film Fun #428 is an anthology comic featuring two main stories. "The Lively Larks of Harold Lloyd: The Pathé Mirth Merchant" presents a six-panel comic strip titled "Paid Him Out Properly!" in which Harold Lloyd attempts to resolve a rent dispute with a landlord and rental agent, leading to comedic confrontations and physical chaos. The issue also includes "Mother's Boy," a serialized story concluding in this edition, in which Winnie seeks the truth about what has happened after discovering her uncle Jim may have been involved in a crime at Friars Hall, ultimately revealing that he was framed and that the real culprit has been caught. Additionally, the issue features "Mr. 'E' the Man of Mystery," a detective story wherein Mr. E investigates a missing tombstone and uncovers a complex case involving forgery and deception centered around a house in Dulwich.
